ISLAMABAD: A one-day seminar titled ‘Pakistan’s Peace Initiatives for Countering Violent Extremism and Protection of Ideological Sovereignty’ was held at the NIPS, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.
The interactive session identified challenges pertaining to countering violent extremism in the country besides suggesting an appropriate way forward to deal with these issues at the grassroots level. The participants also identified major factors impeding the implementation of rule and law to counter violent extremism.
The participants deliberated upon the recently launched national counter-terrorism narrative to sensitize the audience about the significance of Paigham-e-Pakistan with regard to countering extremism and terrorism in the country. The youth from social sciences department were persuaded to conduct research on the national narrative, which also defends Pakistan’s case regarding the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
